The conversion factor is 2.2 pounds = 1 kg

1 kg = 2.2 pounds

x kg = 44 pounds

1/2.2 = x / 44      Multiply both sides by 33

(1 / 2.2) * 44 = x

44/2.2 = x

x = 20 kg

So a 44 pound person has a mass of 20 kg.  <<<< Answer.
