Salt is used to melt snow and keep roads clear during the winter in many cities. Land adjacent to de-iced roads often ends up with a high concentration of salt in the soil. Explain why plants growing near salted roads may appear wilted in the spring?

Answer:

Due to the high concentration of salt in the soil there is not enough water inside the soil (because salt dehydrates the soil), then plants which are growing around salted roads may appear wilted in the spring (also because the most rains comes in the summer time, and during the spring season there is no time able to re-hydrate such a damaged soil) Poor plants!!!
