How to solve 6^x-2=1/4

you can solve it by take log( ) for both sides
6^x-2= 1/4
(x-2) log(6) = log(1/4)
(x-2) = log(1/4) / (log(6))
x-2= -0.774
x= -0.774 +2
x= 1.226
