Work:
3(x + 9) - (x - 6)
3x + 27 - x + 6 (Distribute the 3 and -1)

you distribute the 3 to the numbers in the first set of parentheses and you distribute a -1 to the numbers in the second set of parentheses. then you combine like terms, which are 3x and -x, and 27 and 6
