Students in cars not in the bus = 17

Students on the bus = 617 - 17 = 600

Number of buses = 10

Students in each bus == 600 / 10 === 60 students.

Since 17 students traveled in cars you can subtract those from the 617 leaving you with 600. Since there's 10 buses, you can divide 600 students into the buses. 60 students traveled in each bus.
